The new PM Boris Johnson has pledged to take the UK out of the EU on 31st October 2019 with or without a deal. The likelihood of a 'no deal' Brexit has therefore increased.

Indications are that Portugal will be announcing how it will deal with UK citizens in the event of "no deal" Brexit very shortly.

Portugal is revising its processes for visas and residence permits in a number of ways, the intention being to speed up the process and reduce bureaucracy.
