Visas and other certificates expiring after 24th Feb 2021 will be considered valid until 31st December 2021.
Due to the persistent Covid-19 situation in Portugal and the world, it has been difficult to travel and many government services around the world are either suspended or running at a reduced service. This has caused those who have expiring visas and other documents a significant amount of worry.
In mid March 2021, the Portuguese government decided to extend any documents that expire after 24th February 2021 until the end of the year.
This means that visas, licenses, certificates, criminal record checks and so on that expire after that date will still be considered and accepted as valid by the Portuguese government until the end of 2021. This should give peace of mind to those either in Portugal, or presently trapped overseas with residential paperwork that would otherwise have expired.
